JC Business

James (Higher Level)

This morning I had Business Studies Paper 1. The paper started with the twenty short answer questions of Section A. In Section B, four long questions were to be answered. I completed everything and was satisfied on my lunch break. In the afternoon, I had Business Studies Paper 2. Four long answer questions were to be answered and I completed these questions well with lots of detail. I did not choose question 1 or question 4 on Paper 2. Overall, I'm happy with my Business Studies exam.

JC CSPE

Roisin

C.S.P.E. was fine... it had the normal fill-in-the-blank question followed by three out of four short questions, and a long question, so that should have been fine!I have the day off tomorrow and I intend to use it to cram as much history as possible for Thursday! I have French on Thusrday too but I'm more worried about history so I'll be giving more time to that probably. It's nice to think that this time next week I'll be finished! :-)

James

After lunch today, I had my CSPE exam. There was a lot of writing to be done in the hour and a half. I feel I did well in this exam as the questions were topical and not too difficult to answer. Tomorrow, I will sit Business Studies Paper 1 and Paper 2. Talk then, James.

JC Maths Paper 2

Roisin (Higher Level Maths)

Today, we had maths paper two and C.S.P.E. - a day I'm very glad is over! Maths went pretty well, I think! I understood pretty much all of it, even the dreaded proofs! I only ran into one or two problems and I gave them my best attempt so hopefully it will have been fine!

James (Higher Level Maths)

This morning, I had Mathematics Paper 2. This wasn't the easiest way to start the new week but I managed the paper well. I answered questions 1, 2 and 3 before skipping on to question 6 and then back to 5. By the time I had reached question 4, I had very little time remaining and was disappointed as this looked like a handy question. However, I answered every other question well and overall, I feel good about my Maths exam.

JC Maths Paper 1

Roisin (Higher Level)

Maths was a different story to geography... I was able to answer questions one, three and four straight off, but I couldn't get question two, five are six the first time. When I went back over it, I worked out question four, and most of question six, but question five was hopeless. :( It wasn't just me either... several of my friends came out convinced they had failed (they probably won’t have), having only been able to answer one or two questions. So I guess today was a day of mixed results, but at least it’s the weekend, and I can study hard for paper two and brush up on C.S.P.E. And sleep!

James (Higher Level)

After lunch today, I had Maths Paper 1. This exam was two and a half hours long and consisted of six questions. I managed to complete the first four without much trouble. However, question five and six proved to be difficult and I'm fairly disappointed, as I got a little caught for time. This was the toughest part of the Junior Cert for me so far.I'll continue to study over the weekend and prepare for next week. Talk soon, James.

JC Geography

Rosin (Higher Level)

Geography was first this morning, and it was easier than I expected! The short questions were all straightforward, and the long questions were all ones I had studied, (I chose questions one, four and five) so I was really lucky!

James (Higher Level)

Today, the third day of the exams, I had Geography and Mathematics Paper 1. I attempted higher level papers for both subjects.Geography started with Section 1 consisting of twenty short answer questions. I answered the three required long questions in Section 2 afterwards. The sixth question on this paper was the 'Aerial Photograph and Ordnance Survey Map' question. It was actually based on my own hometown Carrick-on-Suir which was a bit of a surprise but a very pleasant one at that so I flew through that question and overall, I was happy with it.

JC Irish Paper 1 & 2

Roisin (Higher Level Irish)

Today we had Irish, papers one and two. They weren't terrible, but they weren't exactly easy either!Paper one started with the listening comprehension, which I felt went pretty well. It was a nice surprise! The first section of the rest of the paper was the reading comprehension, which was, for the most part, pretty straightforward. I was able to understand all the questions and had a good shot at answering them all! The second comprehension was a little bit harder, and I wasn't sure of all the answers. The question where you got a paragraph and had to transpose it in to a different tense was fine because we just had to change it to the nice, easy past tense! The fill-in-the-blanks question was pretty easy too; I was able to put in a word that made sense each time. For the last section, I chose the story about a party. It wasn't a very imaginative or exciting story, but it was a page and a half with some (hopefully) good phrases so hopefully it'll be fine!Paper two was in the afternoon. It started with the ever-dreaded unseen story. It was hard as usual, probably the worst section of the whole subject for me! I chose B for the studied story, and wrote about 'An t-Adh' under the heading of 'saol faoin tuath'. I think I answered it pretty well because I had a good prepared answer. The unseen poetry was next, and I found it easier than usual. One of the poems was about a poodle! I wrote about 'Subh Milis' for the studied poetry, under the heading 'duine uaignach'. I had a good prepared answer for this as well, and I think it was fine. The last section was the letter. I chose B, the one about being away on holiday. Again, it wasn't very imaginative but I think I managed to answer all the requirements, so hopefully it will be okay!Tomorrow we have geography, which needs some looking over, and maths paper 1, which is definitely the easier of the two maths papers, so it won’t be too bad a night!

James (Higher Level Irish)

Today was the second day of the exams. This morning I was quietly confident that the day would go well as I was happy with my two English papers yesterday. I had my two higher level Irish papers to complete today.Paper 1 suited me and I managed to answer everything well. We had a long break of more than 3 hours until Paper 2 started.I thought that this paper was more challenging than the first paper and with duration of just an hour and a half, there was more to write in a shorter length of time. However, it went well and I answered all questions. I think the toughest question of the exam was the unseen poetry on Paper 2.Overall, I'm happy with my Irish exam.

ISSU Commentary (Ordinary Level Irish)

Today’s Junior Cert Ordinary Level Irish paper shouldn’t have posed too many problems for students with some nice questions based on a very clear delivered aural tape. The comprehension section was also extremely fair with a straightforward matching pictures with advertisements exercise followed by question two which consisted of on an advertisement for the National Gallery of Ireland, a safety notice for Bord Gáis and an advertisement for dolphin-spotting boat excursions and question 3 which required students to answer questions on extracts about singer and actress, Miley Cyrus, and the author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, John Boyne. The final section on composition was very predictable with candidates asked to write a post card home to their parents from a foreign holiday followed by an email to their father about an invite that they had received to a party. All in all, a nice paper!
