AGM 2016

Annual General Meeting 2016 "Creating the Student Proclamation".

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2016 of Student Councils will be taking place on Thursday 24th of March in Liberty Hall Theatre in Dublin city centre.This is a one day event which will involve Student Council members and other students coming together nationwide!

Our National Student Executive elections will be taking place at our AGM also. This is a fantastic opportunity for any student who wants to represent students on important issues that affect their time within second-level education. The student officers drive the work of the ISSU on a yearly basis, so if you are interested or know someone who is interested make sure to put yourself forward for a position! Nominations and registration for AGM 2016 are now open! Students must register online to attend!

Our first information letters have been sent to all schools. If you would like a hard copy of a registration form or have any other queries, please email us at info@issu.ie or call 01 443 4461.

Each member school can send two voting delegates, and one non voting delegate! Non-member schools can send two non-voting delegates. Any student of a member school can run for any position on the National Student Executive! See below for registration and nomination forms!

6th European School Student Convention

Safe, Healthy and Sustainable Educational Environments: Designing the School of Tomorrow

Dublin, 14-19th January 2011

The National Executive Council of the Irish Second-Level Students' Union would like to warmly welcome our friends and colleagues from across Europe who are joining us in Dublin for the 6th European School Student Convention. ISSU is hosting this convention with has been organised by OEBSSU (Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions)

The topic is "Safe, Healthy and Sustainable Educational Environments: Designing the School of Tomorrow", and expert speakers have been invited from across Europe to address the convention.

Adverse Weather: 6th European School Student Convention "Healthy, safe and sustainable educational environment... designing the school of tomorrow"

The National Executive of the Irish Second-Level Students' Union wish to advise:Due to health and safety reasons, the 6th European School Student Convention "Healthy, safe and sustainable educational environment... designing the school of tomorrow" due to take place in Dublin from 3rd to 8th December has been cancelled due to the current adverse weather conditions. This decision was taken at 4.00pm on December 2nd by the ISSU following talks with the Board and Convention Prep Team of the Organising Bureau of European School Students Unions.It is our intention to re-schedule this event to take place from Friday 14th to  Wednesday 19th January 2011

Your World - Your Say

Up to 100 young people from all over the country,  gathered in Dublin on November 17th  for "Your World – Your Say", a consultation event on children’s views on their engagement in European and international levels of decision-making.  The event was hosted by the Children’s Rights Alliance, in collaboration with the Irish Second Level Students’ Union.

Junior Cycle Review

The ISSU National Board is calling on all second-level students to get involved with our submission to the NCCA (National Council of Curriculum & Assessment). We will be preparing our report in July with the intention to submit our findings in early August.The NCCA have published their inital findings in their document entitled "Innovation & Identity". A copy of the document can be seen below.

How to get involved

Email your thoughts, comments or suggestions to studentvoice@issu.ie or post them to "ISSU, 8th Floor, Liberty Hall, Dublin 1", leave a comment on the ISSU facebook or use the comment box at the end of this page.

  • What are your thoughts on the current Junior Cycle programme, including the Junior Cert exam?
  • Does the Junior Cycle assist in bridging the cap between Primary School and Second-Level School?
  • What would you like to see in the Junior Cycle? Subjects, Exam style etc.

There is no set length or restrictions of any type on submissions.
